Aloha my ohana!

I spent most of last year planning my niece's wedding. She is an amazing young woman and it was a magical day. She's so beautiful--you might think I'm biased, but she really is. And a month after that, my husband and I FINALLY went on our honeymoon. The most amazing vacation of my entire life. We spent two weeks island hopping in Hawaii. We hiked the rainforest and the crater rim at Kilauea, we star gazed on the summit of Mauna Kea, stood against the mighty Pacific at South Point, photographed surfing green turtles at Punalu'u, and had fresh Farm Direct OMGs amazing Kona Coffee. Then we visited the royal palace, Pearl Harbor, Kualoa (you might have seen the ranch in a little movie called Jurassic World), Honolulu, North Shore, Dole Plantation, The Polynesian Cultural Center and Waikiki. And finally, Kauai. We took THE TOUR from Island Helicopters (Jurassic Falls, I was in you), toured the National Botanical Garden, tubed down a mountain through an old sugar plantation--where I bashed my head on a rock... twice, and spent most of a day at Smith's. I felt like I was home. I even loved the poi--its good with Smith's kalua pork. Just hook me up an iv of rum punch and leave me there. Our last day, we went to Hanalei Bay and the Kilauea Village lighthouse. And we followed it all up with the most amazing afternoon in the resort spa. The night we got home (after an accidental 6 hour layover in Maui and a 15 hour flight) I forced hubs to go to the 10 pm opening night of Jurassic World IMAX 3D Experience--to max out my orgasm quota for the year. I slept for two days. Then I was depressed and wanted to die for a month because I missed Hawaii so much. I mean it-think con crash x all 12 doctors. I got a Universal annual pass and have been slowly willing myself to live my old life. I took 18 GB of photos. It took me a month and a half to sort them.

Its been a year. My heart still breaks when I think how we lost you. My childhood was always better when you were on my screen, making me laugh. #RIPRobinWilliams

It's Spring already...

I don't know, I just feel like this year is going to go really really well. That's what I'm sticking with. Happy Spring! My purple Phlox, in the 28 degree weather a few weeks ago... didn't seem to phase them.

As promised, here is my red coat, made for Halloween and EnchantaCon. This is the first time I cut the pattern, cut the fabric, sewed, obsessed, and finished a garment of this size entirely without supervision--and also on my new heavy duty Singer. I am really happy with it and hope to do more Once Upon A Time and other costume pieces. My Geekery has no limits. So who knows... you'll just have to wait and see what I sew!

This day was kind of EPIC. I went to the first ever EnchantaCon, for fans of ABC's hit show Once Upon a Time-- you might have heard of it.

I really enjoyed getting to meet the fans and the actors. SHOUT OUT #EVILREGALS It was so great to see Keegan Connor Tracy, Tony Amendola, Raphael Sbarge, Ethan Embry, David Anders and Gil McKinney! (Love you, mean it!) Lee Arenberg, Beverly Elliot, Michael Coleman, Gabe Khouth and Faustino De Bauda could not make it, but they were kind enough to skype in! The whole house went bonkers and it was an awesome thing for them to do.

Going to the event was kind of a late birthday present to myself and it was AMAZING. I hadn't ever attended a small convention like this before, just shows like MegaCon or one day toy and collectable shows like The Deland Comics and Collectables Show. This was an entire weekend devoted to just one show. I was busy, but not to the point where I couldn't enjoy myself. Everything was within about ten minutes of my hotel room in the tower. I had Star Bucks at the bottom of the stairs. BEST PART, my new EnchantaCon family from all over the US and the world! I love you gals! Can't wait to see you all again, if not at EnchantaCon, then at other conventions. I can't tell you how great it is to have people to obsess with. I mean, to discuss the show rationally with and to really appreciate character development and story with like minded individuals.

Oh and it was also Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Day and the hotel got BBCA. So there's another bonus to going. ;)

The Season of Joy

Halloween is my Christmas. It's right before my birthday. There is much fun to be had. I can really be creative and let my decor skills run wild. There is no better time of year. It doesn't leave time for much else. I'm always running around trying to get everything done before the parties and trying to trump my last costume. I've hand sewn my costume this year. It looks AMAZING and I will post more pictures AFTER I wear it. Part of the fun is not spoiling it. The house is shaping up and I'm partying in various locations in various ways for the next 4 weekends in a row. You can have Christmas...I never have more holiday spirit than in October.

Photo Adventures Quarterly Update

Posted on March 20, 2013 at 6:15 PM Comments comments (0)

I've set a goal for myself, having recieved a new Nikon D5100 for my holiday present-to go  a minimum of one photo adventure per month. Sounds easy, but running the aforementioned family business last month solo while everyone else was out on sales kept me from doing more than the minimum. Money is good, right?

Anyway, I have managed so far to get in at least one adventure each month-I'm sticking to my goal as usual. First was the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, second was Blue Springs in February, and in March I made it to Tampa's Lowery Park Zoo, Silver Springs and MegaCon. (Honestly, I took three photos at MegaCon, all on my phone. I was too busy to snap pictures.) Here are a few of my favorite images. I hope you enjoy them! I am purposely not publishing the best photos because they are entered into shows which require them to be unpublished and because net theives tend to ignore copyright aw and use images for their own stuff--EVEN AFTER YOU REGISTER. I hate the interenet... You can meet with me to see my actual portfolio anyway. I prefer face to face interactions. I may post them later depending on which shows they are accepted to. We'll see.
